You're a Bee!
Hard-working and loyal, you are one of the few supporters of the
Queen who remains steadfast in her service. You do find time to stop and smell
the roses in your busy schedule, but you don't let this distract you from your
endless duty. Your favorite term of endearment is "honey". You've always been
very fond of the painted dividing lines on freeways. In the 1980's, people
briefly thought you were a killer.

So yeah,
I thought I would post something.
Work is good but still busy. Lots of stuff still to learn and figure out. But..the overtime money is REALLY good.
Church is going OK. I'm am disheartend by my lack of support. The other volunteer's seem to not be that willing to serve. They are also really green behind a camera. However, the church has OK'ed the hiring of some interns that would report to me. So hopefully I'll have some staff and the stuff will be done and I don't have to work it every Sunday.
Then finally...Shadowfax is here. I picked up my new Mustang last week. Its everything I wanted and hoped for.
Until next time.

I though I would update my blog so I can say I did two updates for the month of March.
March was a little weird. I have been working LOTS of hours (50-60 a week). Because of that my graduate study time didn't happen and I bombed my midterm forcing me to drop to save my GPA. I'll go back soon. The good thing about the extra hours is that I am making lots of OT money. Shawdowfax has been ordered, built, and in transit to Texas. Her ETA is April 18th now. The OT money is going to the insurance difference and to put a radar detector and navigation system in. Fun times....but I really love my job. Its alot of work but in the short time i've been on this project i've gained more respect, knowledge, friends, and opportunity than any other position before. It also looks like i'll be relocating to either Maryland or California in the next couple of years. Really good for a guy who "has no ambition for his career" or so my Nokia manager once said.
Church is going OK. I am now on the Leadership Board of the church and serve on the Board of Communications. The Media Team is crawling along. We have some good volunteers but they need lots of practice. Our hope is to be streaming live before Easter. The gear is ready so once the people are we're go.
I went to a Young Adult retreat and learned alot about myself. I realized that while I was accepted by the group I just didn't belong. I found myself thinking about media things and work issues and not relaxing in nature. So I moved some emphasis in my life to those things...work and church service. I found a good balance. I also try to hit the gym 2-3 nights a week.
My social life has been off and on. Some eHarmony communications but no dates recently. I'll hang out with The Great Unclean, some coworkers, or The Great CJW. I'm thinking of starting dancing again. I now have the time with no school to do it and I missed the activity and the people.
Well thats about it. I'll try to get more posted here in April.

Just thought I would post something fast.
I have been doing a lot of work lately to meet a deadline. I'll get in around 8 and usually leave around 9 at night. Then i'll stay up doing homework. Whats that thing you do?...with friends?...oh yeah!...a social life! I miss mine. I try to hit the gym up a few nights a week. I hope it calms down soon.
Church is going good. They are finally listening to the technical minds. I may have signed on for too much stress there but its for a good reason, right?
To sum up my life is work, school, and church. I've given up on looking for a girlfriend. I can safely answer "no" to the question "do I really have time for a girlfriend?"
A really good thing is...i'm getting close to my new team at work. A good group of folks and we do things together away from work.
I hope to spend time with my loyal blog readers (2-3 people) soon.

Here it is....
"AN UPDATE"
Thanks and i'll post again soon.
Here lies the weekly update in the life of Randy.
Last week I did alot of work. My cube mate annoys me like my mother. Even makes comments like my mother. I just avoid her with headphones or being in the lab instead of my desk.
Well its official...Daniel and Becky are engaged. Daniel asked me to be one of his groomsman. The bachelor party planning is in works...very scary with Cory, me, and Eric planning it.
I spent my free time last week working out and working on my PC problems. The new RAID is running and is very fast. However the old data is still on my SATA and its still screwy. Whenever I try to get the data off it freezes the whole computer. It even freezes when I do a scan/clean on that drive. When the drive is unhooked it works fine. I'm thinking of hitting up Kracka for some HD recovery help. That drive is full of important data...mostly video projects in varying levels of completion.
Daily Updates:
Thursday was group dinner at a Thai place. Been awhile since I had Thai food.
Friday I went to SMU to buy books and pay tuition.
Saturday was a trip to Rahr with Cory and Daniel.
And Sunday...church update:
I returned to the church in a mess of confusion. Leading a group of technical people is easy. You have a good means of communication and you make a schedule putting the right person in the right job with the right equipment. Well when you have different ministers requesting help from the same people and not talking to each other first and also demanding the same piece of equipment be used at the same time....it creates problems. Then when you have two very professional volunteers like me (with engineering leadership experience) and Chris (with pre/post production video experience) both going we'll organize and lead a tech team yielding even more apathy. Our guess is that the people in control without any knowledge of technology won't relinquish control to people who do it for a living. I just don't care anymore. I'll serve the church in a/v when i'm not working, play in the LLJB, and worship with my fellow young adults. The church knows my credentials and if they want to utilize them they can just ask but I won't volunteer it anymore.
Well thats about it. Until next week.

Sorry for the delays in my entries.
Work is keeping me busy. Lots of OT...aka Mustang Money! I'm also trying my best to stick to my workout plan.
Lets see last week...
On Friday I went per the invite of Jeff and Gena Anderson to dinner at 8.0's downtown with the 1st UMC Fort Worth Young Adults. Seems like a fun group. If it wasn't for the LLJB I'd start attending church there and save the drive to Dallas on Sunday's.
On Saturday I met in person for the first time a eHarmony match. We had dinner. Have plans to meet up for after church lunch soon. We'll see there.
On Sunday I went to work in the labs in the morning and then rushed to Dallas for LLJB rehearsal then went to the G-Store then finally got home. I got a little upset over the apathy of the church and even more upset when I got an email fwd of a complaint about the radio show that morning. I have been asking since early last fall for more help and when I accpeted the JSF job I informed them that I would have to work some weeekends. When my lead asked me to work this past Sunday I said yes (good OT money) and then emailed the church days in advance of my absence. I covered all the bases a volunteer should need to cover and even have the blessing of a trusted minister as I stand my ground.
Well thats it for last week. 2 bits of good news in my life Sunday and Monday this week...I can't explain really where they came from...but they are both awesome.
This week is busy but a restful weekend is on the horizon.

Well the holidays are over.
The Christmas stuff at church kept me busy which is good since Christmas usually isn't a good time for me. The web broadcast went over with a big success and lots of praise. It was great to be apart of that. Christmas Eve services were awesome. And Christmas day's broadcast went off without a problem. After that I headed home for a few days of rest. This will probably be the last year I go home due to my moms comment of "don't come home next Christmas" followed by "I expect you to be spending it with a girlfriends family." Thanks for the pressure mom, not like I put enough on myself in that area that I destroy any chances I have.
New Years was depressing but fun. Depressing since I'm single at New Years AGAIN. New Years was fun since I spent it at a wedding filming and making money. Every wedding needs a big band!
Now the new year is here. I think my motivation to work out and tone up will come from my co-workers. There is a contest in who in the group can lower their BMI percent the most before March 1st. There is a cash prize. The dance thing won't happen since i'm so scared to go back and risk being hurt socially. However work is looking really good. Getting more reponsiblity on the new project and getting chances at lots of OT. So money is going to be good. I hope 2006 is better than 2005. I've asked for some help that should be arriving soon so I have faith that it will.
Until next week.

Sitting around depressed about that with all my friends I wasn't invited to a New Years party. Even though some are having parties. But driving home tonight I realized something. That in my 26 years of life I have only been to ONE New Years party (2001 into 2002 at Paul's Parents Place). The other years I have always just stayed at home with my parents usually falling asleep way before midnight or seeing the ball drop in Times Square at 11 cst then turning the TV off. So my conclusion...being alone at New Years is great. Saves money and your not risking your life with the drunks on the road.
My Resolutions for 2006 are:
1) Tone Up. 1500-1800 Calories a Day plus 3 days a week of cardio and weights.
2) Continue Learning to Dance. At least on Tuesdays in Fort Worth.
3) Cut Back on my computer time. Mainly chatting with friends on AIM. (Use this time studying and working out)
4) Do not get behind on my grad school work.
5) Practice my trumpet at least twice a week.
6) Work lots of OT, pay off the remainder of my credit cards, buy a Mustang GT, and save enough for my 2007 resolution of buy a house.
7) DO NOT actively try to make friends or meet women. Do things for Randy cause Randy wants to do them. Then enjoy those things.
Happy New Year

This will be the final RWAR until 2006.
Things have been pretty good.
On Saturday The Great Unclean came out and we hit up Rahr. Then met up with some folks and headed to Cheesecake Factory and then Ben's. Bryan...yes Cartman lives.
The jazz band delivered a great performance Sunday and I had the best outfit on, Swing Santa. I was fly.
Work is good. Folks are leaving for vacations so its gradually slowing down. Thursday I will only work a half day and then head to Dallas for Silent Night.
Silent Night is going to be awesome. The A Team is on it with Mike, me, Amber, Chris 1, and Chris 2. We will be LIVE on the internet streaming video of the service. Making history baby! The word of God...in BINARY.
For those of you who worry about me. I have decided to change the source of my help to somebody more qualified. It will be a distance thing from Tyler until April when somebody in Fort Worth is available.
This weekend i'll hopefully hit up Flying Saucer with the man, the myth, the legend CJW. Then candlelight services Saturday and church Sunday. As soon as thats over its off to the folks for a few days of rest.
So until 2006...Merry Christmas!

Sorry again for the lack of posts.
Here is the events of last week.
On Monday I had my final day on the Old Job. I had the honor of working with some great people there. But its not that I’m going far since I only moved one building away and still see them. On Tuesday and Wednesday I did orientation for the new job and got to my new desk. Took a couple hours to unbox and set up my PC then it was off trying to learn all the new tools and processes for the new job. On Thursday and Friday I sat in and tried to run my first tests on the new job. Its going to be a lot of fun!
On the social side. I’ve been talking with one girl on eHarmony and we talk on the phone periodically now. And another eHarmony girl we just started trading emails. Two years on that site and finally starting to meet some people.
On Friday I went to Flying Saucer with DP and Diz. It was an experiment to see if I could control if I had a good time or night. Friday I went out with the attitude of not going to have fun, and I didn’t. Saturday I went to film Full of Eels for Pat and with the attitude of having a good time, and I did. I need to find some more social outings and practice the attitude of going to have a good time with no worries.
Yesterday was church and the LLJB Christmas Concert. Between those I went and saw Chronicles of Narnia with The Great Unclean. Both were really good (Movie and Concert). The cool thing was what Stan (Senior Pastor) told my parents. After the big membership Sunday with 50+ people joining he said several listed they found our church through the radio broadcast. That makes me feel good that my service does reach people.
Today I’m sitting here trying to be cool. My new cube mate is really annoying. One thing talking about family or hobbies…its another talking about your surgery and problems. Hmmm…maybe a lesson to be learned here.
Until next week.

I am sorry for not updating this for awhile. I've been busy with school finals coming up and my transition at work. I will get back to a regular posting soon.
Until then, Bye.

Just a quick entry.
On Friday I ran a bunch of errands, then I went to see Harry Potter 4 alone. I'm 26 and it was the first time I ever saw a movie in the theater alone. So the theater at 1:00 pm was full of guys like me. I could have stood up and go "Does anybody want to play D&D?" and could have got a nice game going. HP4 was prety good, the last 45 mintutes in particular.
On Saturday and Sunday I was in Houston. The SMU vs University of Houston game was great, we won with a 49 yead field goal in the last 8 seconds. After the game I have offically crossed into old guy alumni status (per Chucks definition). Instead of partying and drinking with the band members I opted to have dinner and a few beers with the directors and Chuck then went back to my room to sleep. I knew this day would come. On a photography note...I need to get a low apature lens so I can do zoom low light shooting...but they are expensive.
That was about it. I didn't go to church cause I was on the road. I now see the light at the end of the old job tunnel allowing my move the new job. Just 3 days this week.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Another week in the Life of Randy has passed.
The work week was pretty hectic. I'm trying to finish up the last two assigments before my move in Decemeber. So I spent some long hours at work.
The week ended and I find myself at a Richland Chambers Lake in Corsicana, TX for a retreat with my church group. Seems like everybody in my class is trying to find themselves just like I am. But I did become friends with one guy in my class, something about male bonding on a boat while fishing. It was a good weekend spiritually.
Sunday after the retreat the LLJB played for a nursing home where an old minister now resides. Its great to do a gig like that. Those folks never get out and rarely have visitors much less a group perform for them. A friends comment kinda bothered me. Those types of gigs are exactly what the mission of the LLJB is. We should be wanting to do those. And personally, my PaPa Bill lived in one until he died with alzheimers. The band was tight as we could be while still holding the volume and range in a small room. Needless to say the gig raised my spirits.
That ended last week.
Last night I tried to find female companionship to see Harry Potter Friday and reached no success. I may just go see it alone. Then Saturday I'm heading to Houston for the SMU and UofH game to do my photo video thing.

A busy week topped off by a busy yet fun weekend.
I recieved the final plan for my job transition. Looks like i'll be offically moved on December 3rd. There will be a transition time to move and get stuff over there set up, I don't know how long that will take. But before I go I have to finish up some projects which might take up to that December 3rd deadline and possibly over. Stay tuned on that.
On Thursday I went to the 0-5 year experience barbeque with management thing. This will be the last year I can go. None of my current leadership showed up so I didn't know anybody. I ran into one guy that I have talked with about test matters so I hung with him for a little while. There was another friend there but she hung with her friends and gave a civil cold shoulder. So with that negativity aside: standing in the food line the guy behind me was a manager who's nametag read VP. AKA the VP over the group i'm going to. So I ate dinner and talked with him. He told me about all that is going on and why there is so much stress on the team...and it all really makes sense.
Friday I headed to Dallas to film the Mustang Band and the 73rd Annual Pigskin Revue. Good show. Very tight musically. The comedy was great. For the 2nd half of the show I set the cam's wide and went and danced. Allison was there and wouldn't leave until I danced with her then failed in her attempt to get me to the blues dance that night. Ready for the segway...I had to get up early Saturday for Homecoming Alumni stuff. So Saturday morning arrives and I find myself back at SMU. The game was great, Ponies won and actually figured out how to defend against Rice's only play...the option. The combined bands sounded great. A co-worker came and did my filming job so I could march. I realized i'm out of shape or just getting old. After the game the alumni were given a tour of the new rec sports building and in particular a large unused room (thousands of empty square feet) that has been reserved to be the location of the new Mustang Band Hall. Then it was off to Two Rows for the Mustang Band Young Alumni & Seniors dinner. After all that I made it home about 11:30.
I got up Sunday and headed to Lovers Lane and did my radio thing. The senior pastor came and asked me if I wanted to serve on the communications board since I am so involved with the broadcast ministry. I said yes since they only meet once a month. Then I went to jazz rehearsal. We are playing for a former minister next weekend who is going down quickly with alzheimers and has been placed in a nursing home. After that I saw JARHEAD with Cory...no gals wanted to see that with me...I guess its a guy movie. Then it was home.
This week I need to get back on the wedding video's that are not finished. I have to get all my little projects finished and caught up on school work before I move to the new job. This coming weekend is the Living Faith class retreat so I can relax a little.
Until next week.

What a great week!
First all i'd like to apologize about my worrysome negativity earlier in the week. I went into the pity on Randy mode about the job offer. It was all totally unecessary since I did infact get the job. Sorry to anybody I upset. You guys know how much I wanted that job.
The job of course came in Wednesday and I accepted Thursday. The responses from my group were all of congrats and the usual test engineer heckling. From being called a traitor to having people go "Randy..Naga...Nagas...Nata...Not gonna work here anymore" from Office Space. There is no firm date which I move to the new project. I should know more this week after the leads figure out where my duties will be handed off to. I know the move is a good move for my career, even a big gamble and i'll be working hella bad hours for awhile. I will however miss the old team...it was a pleasure to work with them. They'll all be there eventually anyway.
Friday brought a Theta Tau Alumni event at PF Changs. The group is starting to grow and take off. Congrats Allison! After that was a chapter tradition ceremony known as Brick Night. Great group of pledges. However as I left...I realized that i'm so much older than the chapter and in a different point in my life. I simply cannot relate to them anymore. I'm going to start hanging with old college friends, coworkers, church, and swing dance folks. I can relate and enjoy spending time with them.
Saturday I went to a haunted house with some friends from church. It wasn't really scary...but watching the girls response was fun.
Sunday the Lovers Lane Jazz Band played the morning services. Then after lunch I came home to rest, do some video editing, read, and do some homework.
Until next time.

I got an offer letter Wednesday to move to a new job. I accepted Thursday morning. Thanks for the prayers. I'm so excited.
